BOHR 2013 - 100-year anniversary of Niels Bohr’s atomic model – University of Copenhagen

2013 is the 100-year anniversary of Niels Bohr’s revolutionary atomic model, which formed the basis for our understanding of atoms and for the quantum revolution.

Using quantum mechanics, we have been able to predict many of the properties of matter, which were later used in a multitude of things that surround us in our everyday life and which we find completely natural and necessary. For example, all of the electronics found in modern devices and lasers are based on Bohr’s revolutionary discoveries.

On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Niels Bohr’s atomic model, the Niels Bohr Institute, Niels Bohr Archive and several other institutions are planning a series of events, exhibitions, new books, films, TV and school projects in 2013.
